Fall Mix Guide: Cozy up to the scents of our favorite season

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning (thanks to a very cool bit of tree chemistry), and our Golden Acre collection is doing exactly what fall wax melts are supposed to do: making your whole house smell like the best version of the season. But your favorite fall scents don't have to stay in their own lane.

This year's lineup was practically built for mixing. Warm spices next to orchard fruit, toasted sweaters next to smoked sugar and cedar, there's a lot to play with. We pulled six combinations we can't stop melting, all made from scents in this year's Golden Acre collection. Grab your bears and get ready to blend.

Amber Hour Apples

Apple Grove + Pumpkin Cashmere + Maple Bourbon

Start with 2 bears of Apple Grove, whose crisp apple skins and bergamot keep things bright instead of syrupy. Add 1 bear of Pumpkin Cashmere for that soft, blanket-wrapped pumpkin warmth, then a single bear of Maple Bourbon to bring in a boozy, maple-drenched finish. It's the smell of standing in an orchard at 5pm when the light goes gold and somebody's already talking about cider donuts.

Sugared Cabin

Cedar Chest + Sweet Cream + Molasses & Barnwood

This one leans into the woodsy side of fall. Cedar Chest brings aged cedar and vanilla musk, Sweet Cream softens it with mochi milk and oak, and Molasses & Barnwood adds that sticky, smoked-sugar depth that makes a room feel like the inside of an old cabin at dusk. Melt two bears of Cedar Chest with one each of Sweet Cream and Molasses & Barnwood.

Farmhouse Bakery

Pumpkin Souffle + Brown Butter & Sage + Squash Blossom

Pumpkin Souffle's cinnamon and ginger meet the nutty, savory-sweet pull of Brown Butter & Sage (graham cracker and pecan, be still our heart), and Squash Blossom rounds it out with creamy vanilla and brown sugar. Two bears of Pumpkin Souffle, one of Brown Butter & Sage, one of Squash Blossom. This is the smell of a kitchen that's been baking since 9am and shows no signs of stopping.

Wild Prairie

Sagebrush & Sweetgrass + Marigold & Moss

Not every fall blend needs to be dessert. Sagebrush & Sweetgrass and Marigold & Moss together are herbal, green, and a little wild, sagebrush and eucalyptus grounding a bright pop of marigold and neroli. Equal parts of each. Keep this one going in the living room or entryway as a palate cleanser between the sweeter blends above.

Porch Swing Pecan

Pecan Praline + Molasses & Barnwood

Pecan Praline is pure candied-pecan comfort, buttered pecans and caramel with just enough brown sugar to smell like dessert's already plated. Pair it with Molasses & Barnwood's smoked, harvest-spice depth and it turns into something you'd catch drifting off someone's back porch on a cool evening. One bear of each is a good starting point. Add a second Pecan Praline if you want it leaning sweet over smoky.

Blackberry Custard

Blackberry Cobbler + Sweet Cream

Blackberry Cobbler brings tart fruit, cardamom, and orange, the kind of scent that smells like it's still warm from the oven. Sweet Cream softens all that fruit with mochi milk and oak so it never tips into sour. One bear of each is enough to fill a kitchen. Add a second Sweet Cream if you want it leaning more custard than crumble.

How to actually mix these

If you're new to blending, the ratios above are a starting point, not a rulebook. Drop your bears into a Mod or Signature Mod Warmer, mix, and adjust from there. A few things worth knowing:

Start with fewer bears than you think you need. You can always add another to intensify a scent, but you can't take one back out once it's melting. Two bears total is usually plenty for a bedroom or bathroom, while three to five will carry through a living room or kitchen.

Give a new blend a full melt before judging it. Fragrance oils shift as they warm, so what you smell in the first ten minutes isn't always what you'll smell an hour in.

And if a combination above becomes your new favorite, write it down. It's shockingly easy to forget your own recipe by November.

Fall doesn't last nearly long enough. Might as well make it smell like all of it at once.
